What is the Bay Area Singles Soiree?
The Bay Area Singles Soiree offers a more personal, heart-centered way for singles to connect. Not only is it a social event, but we play some games that are designed to encourage a deeper connection in a safe environment. Monthly in the Bay Area (online) a group of singles unite to explore dating and have fun with other like hearted people. We bond and connect over how similar we are in our hopes, desires and past experiences with dating. Not only do you have a chance to meet others, you also have a chance to get to know yourself better. The format may change from month to month, but the depth of connection remains and MAGIC happens!
What happens at the Bay Area Singles Soirees?
When you arrive you will be greeted by one of our great assistants who will register and welcome you to this amazing event. Often people are nervous when they arrive, as a way to help clear that energy, you are invited to play a mingle game right after you register. By picking questions from a box you go on a scavenger hunt collecting answers to questions while mingling. For example, “find someone who has your taste in music”, or “find someone who owns a pet”. The goal of this exercise is to facilitate the process of meeting different people.
The workshop formally begins with a check in. During the check in each person has the opportunity to introduce themselves to the group.
We then move to a fun group activity and play Susan Campbell’s Truth in Dating Game. Where we dive deeper into the heart and soul of each participant, hearing more about their life experiences and discovering our commonalities. There is a feedback part of the game which really highlights how alike we all are. As a result people often feel more connected and experience how similar we are as humans. You are always 100% at choice around participation in these activities, choosing to only explore what is comfortable to you. To create a safe and open atmosphere, the group agrees to strict confidentiality. Light refreshments are then provided during a short break, allowing us to fuel up and mingle a bit more. After the break we form small groups and I lead you through a brief visualization focusing on your desires in life and love. Each member of the small group then has the opportunity to share, opening up the space for even deeper connection.
At each event I lead a brief exercise where we practice flirting and complimenting each other. Everyone feels so good after this exercise and the room feels warmer, really setting the stage for the next exercise.
In the final exercise you will go on a mock date with someone. While this is a very short date, similar to the speed dating experience, it is still a great opportunity to get to know them better. As well as practicing your dating skills in a safe environment, you also get the chance to explore a connection that you may already made in the group.
We end with a closing circle where each participant shares their experience of the workshop and how they are feeling in the moment.
Who attends the Bay Area Singles events?
The Bay Area Soiree caters to singles 50 and up. Like you, everyone who attends the event is looking for healthier and richer ways to connect with the other gender. People who are interested a healthy mind, body, and spirit, and tired of the bar scene and online dating, find this event extremely refreshing.
What happens after the singles event?
We invite you to stay for the potluck immediately following the workshop. This eases the transition back into the ‘world’, as well as gives you more time to bond and solidify any connections you may have made, and hopefully even schedule some dates. I’m excited to say that many participants not only go out on dates, but have also formed long term relationships, whether it be a love relationship or new friend.
